El diseño del C2 se debe a Larry Shinoda, que se basó a su vez en 2 modelos anteriores ( Mako Shark y sting ray racer ) y bajo el mando de Bill Mitchell se fabrican durante 1963-1967.
En su versión coupé tenía una característica ventana doble posterior ( split window ) que por tanto no llevaron denominación sus versiones descapotables. Se construlleron 10.919 unidades con techo y 10.594 sin. Adoptó todas las mejoras anteriores del C1 y aparte incorporó suspensión trasera independiente y hasta una motorización de 360 CV.
